Untitled series?

One picture done, hope you enjoy!

I really need help with finding a name for the series though. All of the pictures are taken near a brick wall, or in something similar to a construction site. Any ideas?

Exams stands for A!

Even got an A on his exam! Congratulation a million trillion times!

It's so warm outside, it's lovely. But my office is too hot, I can hardly bare it. But I guess somehow I'll get by. On the upside only two more days of work, and then I have a weeks vacation! Hopefully people will want to hang out and do some photoshoots. And if not I'll take horrible selfportraits and give them pretentious titles.

Mario Testino just shot another series for the July edition of American Vogue. I wish the picture below was of me, walking around in New York looking for a place to stay, or my hotel. It's been too long since I've travelled.

The series is called City of Dreams. And it really is.

I had a photoshoot yesterday as well. With Sofia White (MUA) and Siri A (pholk.no). It turned out quite nice I think. Even has some polaroids. But in the meantime I have a sneak preview. Not done with the retouch and not with the look. But here you go!

Happy birthday.

Today it's Even's birthday. Turning 22, and is now finally my age. All the best for his birthday, and hopefully he'll like the presents he's getting from me.

Jimmy Choo.

Next designer for H&M:

Fucking Jimmy Choo! I'm extatic. So happy, I'm just sitting in my room starring into the wall thinking "oh shit, I'm so happy". I was happy when they announced Comme des Garcons, I was happy when they said Matthew Williamson. But this tops them easily.

Looking forward to seeing the collection! Will post as soon as I see anything.

Heading for the sun.

Summer on and in my mind. Only 7 more days of work, and I have one week off! Hopefully the weather'll stay nice and warm. I'm planning to spend the week taking weird fashion pictures and wearing my new red shoes, along with various vintage dresses and cheap monday jeans. Drinking a glass of white wine for lunch every day, and meet people I haven't seen in years. And go out dancing at least two times, one time to house and other fun music, and one time to angry dyke punk rock.

I started reading Lockpick Pornography by Joey Comeau yesterday. I'm not really going to dance to dyke punk rock, I just felt like making the reference. Great book, by the way.

June stands for birthdays!

I wish I was born in June, you can have cool birthday parties then.

Craig McDean

Today is my sisters birthday! She turns 16. Which means she's finally allowed to start modelling through agencies. Now we have to find someone who wants to represent her. But I'm sure that'll work out. I have to buy her a birthday gift though. I might buy her some nice shoes.

Interesting weekend.

After the weirdest weekends in a long time, monday is back. It's sunny today, and so I'm wearing a vintage dress to work. Black with white dots.

Even is handing in his exam today, so he'll most likely start blogging some as well (yes, critique). We're drinking tea and eating scones in a couple of hours to discuss entries to come and pretend to be famous. I will also talk some about the new Alexisonfire album (leaked). We're both huge Dallas Green fans, but Even still hasn't gotten around to liking George and Wade's voices. So I will teach him how to be a badass.

Just a couple of campaigns today.

Gucci

Marc Jacobs

I'm now going to go scan my latest drawings. Seeing as yesterday was too boring to do anything but draw and read.

Burberry.

So I get to work today, after a pretty rough night I might add, and do my normal surfing around after good news. And what do I find? Mario Testino's pictures for the Burberry ad campaign Fall/Winter has been released! Always been a big fan of Burberry (love my trenchcoat <3), and so I was of course excited to seeing this. However, big however, in march/april, can't remember, it was released that Emma Watson (the Harry Potter star) would be their main model. This scared me of course. No offence to Miss Watson, I'm sure she's a great person. But the popular culture might be taking over a bit too much when Harry Potter stars are appearing in ad campaigns such as Burberry. Next we're probably going to have Robert Pattison (Twilight) doing Marc Jacobs.

But, I absolutly love the pictures and I think Miss Watson did a great job.

Before / after, Maiken.

New concept in the making! Me and Even were talking yesterday, and he came up with the great idea of showing some of our work both before and after photoshop. I thought I'd kick it all off with some of my pictures. These were taken for my cousin, who's a hairdresser. The model is my sister, Annichen.

The pictures were for a contest called Wella Trend Vision 2008. It's an annual contest, one of the biggest, to do with hair. These pictures were taken for the Norwegian competition, which we won! We got to travel to Lisbon to attend the World Championship. It was a lot of fun.

This first picture (below) is the raw-file. It's not been processed in any way in this picture:

To light the photo I only used a small softbox, places to the far left to get a hard, but still kind of soft lighting. I placed it there to show her hair (which is what was important for this shoot). To the right I have a silver reflector. The background is lit with two lamps on each side. The after picture is as seen below:

Quite a lot of work in photoshop with this one. The layers mainly consist of editing the skin, editing the hair, curves and dodge and burn. Another important thing to this photo was to really make her haircolour stand out, as it was one of the criterias in the category we competed.

Another picture from the same shoot. The lighting is the same, except I moved the softbox a lot closer to light her face.

And after here, I mainly did the same things as the one above. However, this is the first picture I ever retouched (skin) with building up special parts of her face. Like the cheekbone, and ear. I remember being quite pleased.

Shortbread from England.

Yesterday I had visitors from England here, they brought shortbread. So there goes swimsuit season.

Other than that I had the most delightful surprise this morning. Over at fashion gone rogue they've posted the new Tim Walker shoot called The Fashion and The Fantasy.

Featuring Malgosia Bela amongst a handful of British soldiers who are under her "spell". I think she does a really good job considering how well she outshines the whole army of soldiers. This was shot for the latest Italian Vogue. I'm nearly as happy about these pictures as Even would be over new Craig McDean pictures.

This is the best picture I think. Really shows Tim Walker's amazing lighting skills. I die, and need to do a fashion shoot soon.

Weekend hangover, and hot chocolate.

Even's exam week starts today, so good luck to him. Hoping for an A? Not that it matters.

This weekend was too rough on me, seriously. Still hungover and with a huge headache at work. Drinking water and not even thinking about food. Starring out of my window too much. Did however manage to get a ticket to see Muse in October, so that's cool. Drinking hot chocolate. Speaking in lists. Saving up money for going to New York, or any other place. Wanting sushi for dinner.

We (heart) Helmut Newton

This is my favourite picture today. David Lynch has always been a huge inspiration to me. With amazing movies and series such as Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway and Blue Velvet. He really makes me strive towards that special something behind the photo. The colour combinations, the look in a models eyes, the hidden details you never notice, but you just know that there's something about the photograph that captivates you/scares you/inspires you/makes you feel completly lost.

Friday meetings.

Every friday I have a meeting from 09:00 to whenever at work. And today our boss revealed that all employees will, this year, go to Dublin in Ireland! Last year I was only hired as a temp and was stuck at the office while all others where in London. We're not going until December, but I'm really looking forward to it anyway.

Yesterday I found this picture taken by Terry Richardson. I thought it was quite unusual for him, and so I'm posting the whole set. The set is called “A Toutes Jambes", and is for Vogue June/July.

"Mistletoe allert!", she screams and give me a dry kiss on the cheek.

What not to do in the future:
1. start reading American Psycho again.
2. read in bed before falling asleep.
I didn't have the worst nightmares, but you do feel quite weird when you wake up thinking you've killed a dog. So I'm not gonna read it in bed anymore. But the book is so damn good, even though it's the sickest fucking book in the world. After Lunar Park and Glamorama (also by Bret Easton Ellis).

Anyhow. I wrote about Art + Commerce yesterday. I got kudos from our favourite Even Rygg, but he didn't like that I didn't meantion his obsession with Craig McDean. And so; Even <3 Craig McDean.
And Kate Moss is his muse, so this should make his day. Hopefully.

In other news, catwalk season is once again open! I'm taking pictures for Esmod (norways school of fashion and textile design) today. They're holding a small fashion show. And other than that Oslo Fashion Week is coming up, which I am, of course, covering this year as well. Mostly for Oslo Fashion Week themselves, and also the Aller group (magazines such as Henne and KK). And we're also selling pictures through All Over Press, which is by far the coolest. I'm looking forward to it. Only thing is that it collides with Øya-festivalen! Which I'm super pissed about. But hey, I can just stalk Band of Horses when I move to the US.

Close your eyes to see.

Art + Commerce holds some of these times' best photographers (I think at least). Some weeks ago I noticed they had something new on their site; a Picture of the Day. This made me really happy, because now I don't have to search through their huge archive to find beautiful photographs. They show photos from all the photographers they've had signed. Like Robert Mapplethorpe, Perry Ogden, Steven Meisel, David LaChapelle, and of course Craig McDean and Sølve Sundsbø. Just to meantion a few.
Todays picture is taken by Robert Mapplethorpe and is of Patti Smith. It was also the cover of her debut album, Horses. Below the picture on AArt + Commerce's site there's a quote from Jefferson Hack, Co-founder Dazed + Confused. "It was because of this picture that I bought ‘Horses.’ I wanted to know girls that looked like that. I wanted to hang out with girls that stood like that. Girls that were lit all the time".

The sky is moving too fast.

This weekend was one of the best ever, at least thus far this spring. Sunny and warm. I spent most of my time in the park with friends and dogs. I even got a tan, or more "less blueness", which is always nice.

It's windy today though, and the sky is moving in a million miles per hour. I'm stuck in the office, listening to my ipod on random and counting the minutes left.

Mr. Aurtun was just down and lent me an old Norwegian photography magazine. It has an interview with Sølve Sundsbø. So inspirational. Makes me want to go home, pack my suitcase and just leave. Go to New York and find a job, somewhere, and just make it. I need to take some more pictures. And I need to work on my retouch. Maybe I'll take another selfportrait today.
